Dr. Azar Tavakoli, DACM, MAOM, MPH, L.Ac. is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist certified by the Texas State Medical Board and board-certified by the NCCAOM in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology.

She holds a:

• Doctorate (DACM) and Master’s (MAOM) in Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) in Houston

• Master’s in Public Health/Epidemiology (MPH) from the University of Texas

• Bachelor’s in Biology, minor in Psychology from the University of Houston

Prior to practicing acupuncture, Dr. Tavakoli conducted life science research at NASA Johnson Space Center. In addition to her practice here at Zen Acupuncture Clinic, she provides acupuncture services at Houston Methodist Hospital and trains ACAOM students in clinical skills. Dr. Tavakoli is known for her strong diagnostic skills and patient-centered approach. She emphasizes aligning with nature’s rhythms to restore balance and support natural healing.​
